I’d been having a hard time writing a review for Allie Brosh’s book, Hyperbole & A Half. There’s a lot (not alot) I wanted to say about this book but couldn’t seem to come up with a review that did it justice. However, I will say this – there’s one story approximately halfway through the book where I started laughing, then began cry-laughing, then came that special type of laughter where you’re not making any noise but can’t stop shaking. If that isn’t my highest possible recommendation, I don’t know what is.
In fact, I haven’t laughed this hard reading a book since Paul Neilan’s “Apathy and Other Small Victories” – and that is one hell of a funny book. Hyperbole and a Half is both a hilarious and revealing read that you could easily devour in one sitting despite its nearly 400 page length.
